“As a recovering addict, endurance training has become a huge part of my story. It made growth tangible for me. On the road to recovery there are no mile markers to look back and no personal records to gauge your progress. It can often be difficult to reflect on just how far you’ve come in the journey. But out there, in the silent reflection of the open water while swimming or with each heal strike of the payment while running you learn as each mile passes, that the voice in your head that told you to give up is a liar. That you’re stronger than the voice of your addiction that tells you you’re worthless and beyond Hope. Out there you dare to endure and you learn who you really are. You find Hope, you find purpose, and most importantly you find the strength to endure. ” – Dan
