Together, We Bring Hope to Those in Crisis
People support Hope House Ministries to make a real difference in the lives of those facing homelessness, addiction, and mental illness. Donations fund free services such as housing, counseling, healthcare, and more, that help individuals heal and rebuild. This support not only saves the community millions by reducing its reliance on public systems, but also creates a lasting impact that is only possible through the generosity of people like you.

Other Ways to Give

The Hope for the Future Society is made up of Hope House Ministries supporters who have named—or plan to name—Hope House Ministries in their estate plans.
Members are honored each year at the All Souls Mass held at the Friary in November. By joining, HFS members help ensure that Hope House Ministries’ mission continues well into the future, supporting volunteers, donors, and staff who provide housing and services for those experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, or recovery from substance use.
There are several ways to contribute to the Trust in Providence Fund and Endowment:
Cash: Direct and simple, cash donations support the HHM Endowment Fund while offering full federal tax deductions for those who itemize.
Memorial or Honorary Gifts: Honor a loved one, anniversary, birthday, or retirement by contributing to the HHM Trust in Providence Endowment Fund. Tributes will be sent to the person being honored or their family. Please include the recipient’s address and send gifts to the Development Department.
Bequests: Name the Trust in Providence Endowment Fund as a beneficiary of your estate, whether through a specific gift, residuary or contingent bequest, or charitable remainder trust. Bequests are deductible for federal estate tax purposes—consult your accountant or financial advisor for guidance.
Appreciated Property (Stocks, Bonds, Real Estate): Gifts of securities or real estate held for over a year offer charitable deductions and can help you avoid capital gains taxes. Gifts of appreciated real estate may also be used in a charitable remainder trust, providing lifetime income to you while benefiting HHM after your passing.
Life Insurance: Life insurance allows for a large gift at an affordable cost. You may donate an existing policy, establish a new one, or name HHM as owner/beneficiary. Premium payments for charitable life insurance contracts are tax deductible. Consult your financial advisor for guidance.
Gifts that Provide Lifetime Income: Deferred gifts allow you to transfer assets to HHM while receiving a lifetime of income for you, your family, or other beneficiaries. Options include charitable remainder trusts, charitable gift annuities, and deferred payment gift annuities, all customizable to meet your priorities.

What is a qualified charitable distribution (QCD)?
A QCD is a direct transfer of funds from your IRA custodian, payable to a qualified charity. IRA owners and beneficiaries who are age 70 1/2 or older can take advantage of this opportunity. You may distribute up to $100,000 per year directly from your Traditional IRA to Hope House Ministries (a 501(c)3 nonprofit) with no federal tax consequences. Click to learn more.
Can a qualified charitable distribution satisfy my required minimum distribution from an IRA?
Yes, QCDs can be counted toward satisfying your minimum required distributions (MRDs) for the year, as long as certain rules are met. Click to learn more.

If you would like to donate stocks, mutual funds, or other appreciated securities, we can help you and your broker transfer them simply and straightforwardly.
Suppose you own publicly traded stocks or bonds that have appreciated in value for more than 12 months; donating them offers income tax benefits. In that case, no capital gains tax applies, making it more advantageous than giving cash.
If your stock has dropped in value, consider selling it and donating the proceeds. You may claim a capital loss deduction and an income tax deduction for your gift.
Please have your broker provide Hope House Ministries with a copy of the letter of instruction, including the stock name, number of shares, gift allocation, and date of transaction. Hope House Ministries works with Stifel Nicolaus to transfer and sell donated stocks.

Establishing a memorial or tribute gift is a meaningful way to honor a loved one or celebrate a special occasion. Your generosity not only honors someone who has impacted your life but also supports the people we serve at Hope House Ministries.
There are many ways to give a memorial or tribute gift:
Honor a special person, friend, or group.
Celebrate a birthday, wedding, anniversary, or other occasion.
Make a memorial gift for a loved one who has passed.
Donate in lieu of flowers.
Give a Christmas gift to grandparents in your children’s name.
When you make a gift, let us know where to send the acknowledgement, and we’ll notify the honoree or family—without mentioning the gift amount.

Thank you for your interest in fundraising to support those who are experiencing homelessness. Many have a heart for solving homelessness but they are concerned that handing cash to a homeless person may not really help. This is why we encourage you to partner with us in providing real solutions.
So, if you would like to have a house party, hold a bake sale, run a race or bike hundreds of miles, you can use your efforts and voice to make a difference. We ask anyone fundraising on behalf of Hope House Ministries to contact us and submit your ideas for approval. If your event is approved, and depending on our staff’s availability, we may be able to support you in promoting your event and supply you with marketing tools.
Thank you in advance for your efforts.
