Building blocks workshop is located on the grounds of the little portion Friary and provides the opportunity for our residents and other at risk youth in our community as the opportunity to embrace the age old art of woodcraft.

The shop itself was the brainchild of a former member of our community, Kyle Schmitt, whose passion for the craft fired his desire to change the course of his own life.

Having now found his path, Kyle has dedicated himself to sharing his knowledge and skills with those attempting to find their own way through the many challenges of recovery.

Building blocks not only teaches individuals how to build, restore, and repurpose wood, but, more importantly, helps each community member develop self-confidence and self-esteem one beautiful building block at a time.
